Frostgrave white gorilla

I have painted up a Reaper Bones Yeti Shredder to be used as a white gorilla in the game of Frostgrave. I found the mold lines very difficult to remove completely, but overall I like the quality of this miniature. This was the first time that I painted one of these plastic miniatures. They look and feel a bit weird at first, but they look great when painted up.

I went for a warm palette of colors for this one so he wouldn’t blend in completely with the snow on the base. The base color is Vallejo Green Ochre and I highlighted up from there with som minor shading added as well. I try not to rely on drybrushing when painting fur because I think much of the definition of the miniature is lost with that approach. Instead I try to build up the highlights like I would do with any other surface so you are still able to pick out the muscles.

I went for a dark skin tone so it would contrast nicely with the fur. It also makes him resemble a gorilla more.

This is the very start of my bestiary for Frostgrave. Next, I will be working on some skeletons and zombies to give my necromancer some more enemies to fight.

Frostgrave necromancer

I have started painting a warband for Frostgrave. A game I have long been intrigued by but am yet to play. For my wizard I have chosen to go with a necromancer since I have always loved painting undead.

I have tried to portray him as being physically weak but still powerful. My inspiration for him came partly from the old Mordheim necromancer miniature.

His apprentice is supposed to look slightly insane. His skin is pale and he brings his pet rat into battle.

He is known to talk to his rat and he treats him as his personal advisor.

You will need a zombie if you choose the Raise Zombie spell so I have created this miniature by combining parts from the Death Cultist’s sprue with the regular soldier’s sprue.

All miniatures are from North Star Military Figures and I find they are a real joy to assemble and paint. With all the sprues available there are endless possibilities.
